While playing GTA3 w/ no mem card on playstation 2. the game froze. is there any way to salvage my game?

ps2… Grand theft auto 3 los santos…. no memory card… far into the game during game play the screen froze… i'll prolly have to turn it off and start over from beginning . right? is there no way to save it if i were to purchase a mem card?
The PS2 is still On; with my character stuck in mid-stride. Would a swift kick in the console do the trick? Could i go buy a memory card right now, plug it in, and somehow save the game? I can open the disc loading tray and close it, but it changes nothing. Is there some recovery disc?

Sorry, its gone. Since there is no way to persist the data that is stored in the PS2's RAM.
Additionally, actually getting the PS2 to persist the data from the RAM would be impossible anyway due to the fact it has froze. Unfortanately the PS2 doesn't have a virtual RAM like windows so cannot recover from such a state.
