I'm in the market for a cheap used car. My car runs well, but it's got a lot of millage on it. I found a 900 SE Saab Hatchback at a dealership not to far from me, who will accept my old car for a trade in. They're charging $1,500 for this Saab with only 55,000 miles, and it looks fine except the front bumper is a little rough. I looked it up with CarFax and it was in an accident back in 98, salvaged, then a new owner had it, and drove it for another 20,000 miles over the next three years.
Now it's up for sale,

shorty asked:

Ok i know this guy that has a 1993 rx7 and has a bunch of court fines so he is selling it. I've seen the car, it has 80,000 original miles, its an auto. with nice interior and a few normal dings on the body. it DOES have a salvage title. The guy said the engine needs new seals (apex seals) and it should be good to go. he said when he wrecked it after the seals went it did start and load and hasnt been started since (a few years). he is wanting $5,500 for it as is. I am thinking about getting it and putting it in a storage garage and working on it when i have some extra cash or having it worked on. U guys think its a good deal?
Its the 13b twin turbo motor. My father used to have a 91 rx7 and thats when rx7's became my dream car. I'm pretty posative my uncle rebuild my dads motor and knows rotary motors inside and out and would be glad to help/teach me cuz i'm very interested. I'm going to get more details on it, call insurance company and find stuff out then make a decision. thanks guys

Anyone have any input on whether or not these are good vehicles? I'll be towing a 5'x8' cargo trailer for work. See posting below…

Up for sale is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Freedom. Has all the standard options, Auto, AC, power windows, power mirrors, keyless entry(needs new remote), cruise control, Factory tinted windows etc as well as the overhead trip console(rare in the Cherokees, has gas mileage functions, outside temp etc), rear receiver hitch, new dual core radiator for upgraded cooling, 8.5 Canyon wheels with new tires. In addition it has the NP242 transfer case(also pretty rare in the Cherokees), and Dual CD/tape deck.

I've had the Jeep since feb of '05, I bought it with 65k miles and it now has about 113k miles. I bought it damaged and I replaced the hood, grill, bumper and left fender, It now has an upgraded dual core radiator as well. This vehicle carries a rebuilt from salvage title which is issued after the vehicle has been repaired and inspected by the Colorado State Patrol for road worthiness. It's been great a Jeep for me thats never let me down and has never given me a lick of trouble. I've had a lot of fun with it and its a very useful vehicle. It's a strong Jeep that has a lot of life left in it, I will be sorry to see it go, but I am moving on to newer and nicer things.
Back at about 75k miles I bought new tires, when I got new tires I also installed new upper and lower balljoints, tie rods end, etc. About 10k miles ago I did a transmission fluid flush and new filter. When the new tires were installed I also installed new front brake pads and had it aligned. After 40k miles the tires showed no bad wear or odd cupping. The vehicle drives strait and doesn't pull. Currently it has 30×9.50 15s on Jeep Wrangler Canyon wheels which are 8 wide compared to the stock 7. The tires currently on the Jeep have about 10k miles on them, and have probably 90% tread on them still.

Auto Salvage Ga

I am a car enthusiast and i do like driving stick .Because my car is a clean title and his is a salvage, is it worth the trade?

maxpowerrys asked:

i found this truck in a dealer for this price. The truck comes with a rebuilt title and the dealer said it might need some suspension work. The interior (all leather) is in excellent condition and the exterior just needs the front bumper painted. Is it worth it and will I have any problems with the rebuilt title? I have a 1999 subaru legacy that had a salvage title because it was damaged but my dad is a auto body repair man so we fixed it and I havent had any problems. Ive had that car for 6 years now. Is it worth it or will I have to put in a lot of extra money to get it fixed?

What my plans are for this month is trade-in my used car, and purchase a new car (2009 Toyota Yaris 4d Hatchback Auto) ~$14,000

I used Kelly blue book, and they gave me an estimate, but since my car is in Salvage Title due to theft, the price would definitely go down.
Kelly blue book gave me an estimate of my car being worth at suggested retail value asking price of 4,520 at dealers.

if a carfax shows a car has had a rebuilt title for the pas 7 years, but doesnt show a salvage title or haveany details other than that the dmv reports a rebuilt title and there are no failed inspections listed on the carfax, what should i think? there are only 2 owners listed, and the second owner says he was pretty sure he title he had said original. could the carfx be wrong? the secong owner has shown maint records of all and any maint hes had done, and nothing is reported b the auto center he uses. im trying to make sense of the carfax… could it be wrong? and if it is rebuilt, with the fact tht its still running strong after being listed as such for 7 years, does tis attest to the reliablilty of the car????

Ok, here’s the deal I have a 07 Charger that was rear-ended the first shop told me that he would try to pull the rear-end out but he ended up having to cut the rear passenger ¼ panel, replacing the floor pan and some other things, now the insurance adjuster is wanting to do something called a rear-end clip (getting a salvage rear end) to replace the damaged one. I asked the first repair shop owner why he didn’t want to do the repair. He replied that it wasn’t worth the trouble. So of course that sounded a little fishy to me so I called some other local repair shops and was basically told that there was risk involved and liability. I would like to know what the safety risks of such a repair are and I don’t like the fact that I have to send my car to another shop because the first doesn’t want to do the repair.
the adjuster told me that I wouldn't have a salvage title but the car has already been chopped by the first repair shop.

Auto Salvage Ga

Well, the saga continues. Now they claim they should get the title today, they're just waiting for the auction people to send it. I've been told that the auction part is normal, though them not knowing any details about their purchase seems odd, to say the least.

PiggyGirl asked:

OK, I asked another question yesterday about unknowingly being sold a car with a salvage title — http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061128073937AAwWAu9 — which the dealership is supposedly still uncertain of.

Well, the saga continues. Now they claim they should get the title today, they're just waiting for the auction people to send it. I've been told that the auction part is normal, though them not knowing any details about their purchase seems odd, to say the least.

They're claiming they're in the same position I'm in! Isn't it their responsibility to know? Plus when I asked they insisted it hadn't been in a wreck, and they went further to give me a warranty.

Assuming the car has only been in a wreck (that resulted in a settlement for $13k in 12/2005) how does that effect the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty they gave me? Is this alone fraud, even if it doesn't have a salvage title?

Shouldn't they reduce the price? Am I stuck?

(I'm in TX.)
I purchased the car 11/22 but didn't get the insurance stuff until after the Thanksgiving holiday. That's when my insurance agent discovered the wreck, on 11/27.

I have called the TX Attorney General and the DMV and they're telling me to submit a complaint. I'm going to call the legal people provided through my job later today, but I was hoping to settle this peacefully.

Initially they seemed to won't to resolve this, yesterday they implied they were already looking for a new Ion, and insisted they wouldn't leave me in a wrecked vehicle.

Now it just seems like they're trying to get out of it and shirk responsibility. But I don't think ignorance is an adequate defense. At the very least I think the price should be lowered, or I should be released from the contract.

I do know that I would not have bought the car had they told me it was in a $13k wreck and they acknowledge that that's likely the case. Still, they insist the wreck doesn't effect our deal.
I got it from a smaller local dealer called Auto Max.

My issue with the wreck is that I specifically asked if it had been in a wreck and they said no. I asked two separate salesmen and they both said no.

My insurance agent only found the $13k claim through one insurance company — he was checking them all for the lowest price. None of the other insurance companies were showing this claim BUT I'm sure the dealership knew what was what.

I can't accept that the auction didn't let them know the history of that car — I'm sure the truth of the matter was in the price they paid for it. If they got a severely discounted price on it they had to know why, in my opinion. I doubt they got gypped too.

Though, I did initially give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they really didn't know, but now I'm thinking the shock was more a reaction to the fact that I found out about it, rather than true ignorance/innocence.

And still, they claim they don't have the title.

Auto Salvage Ga
