rebuilt car.please read?

if a carfax shows a car has had a rebuilt title for the pas 7 years, but doesnt show a salvage title or haveany details other than that the dmv reports a rebuilt title and there are no failed inspections listed on the carfax, what should i think? there are only 2 owners listed, and the second owner says he was pretty sure he title he had said original. could the carfx be wrong? the secong owner has shown maint records of all and any maint hes had done, and nothing is reported b the auto center he uses. im trying to make sense of the carfax… could it be wrong? and if it is rebuilt, with the fact tht its still running strong after being listed as such for 7 years, does tis attest to the reliablilty of the car????

I would not have much faith in anything Carfax says. In my opinion they are just a scam. If the car were in fact rebuilt it would have a salvage title. To make sure check the car carefully for prior accidents. Check all the doors, trunk lid and hood looking for anything that does not fit correctly. Look under the hood and in the trunk for unrepaired damage. Check all the paint for mismatches. Finally put the car on a lift and check everything underneath including the frame. Also check the title for the words Salvage

Never assume carfax is wrong on a rebuild.
But, the fact that its been 7 years suggests if it was going to have been problems, it would have already had them.
So, instead of being worth 50-60%, it might be worth 70-75%.
But don't plan on selling it. you will lose your ****.
