I have a question dealing with an auto title?

I had a car which was totaled by the insurance company, and they asked me if i wanted it and keep a salvage title or take the money. I said i will take the money at that time. there was someone that worked at the shope that wanted the car. Anywho 4-5 years later hes contacting me for the titel. The insurance never put the salvage title on it. My Can i go and pick up my car with a police officer?
there is no salvage title at all thats why im confuse. My title is valid, he says he cant put it on the road until i give him the title

So you answer him that you no longer own the car, that it was totaled and the insurance bought it, and to contact them if he is interested in the car. Your original title is no good since a salvage title was issued later.
No, you can't use an invalid title to pick up a car you don't own.
Added: regardless of that, when the insurance paid you, they became the owner, and your title became not valid. They will have to issue the salvage title if they didn't, but I'd bet they did.
